NEW YORK, September 13, 2018 – A recent study published in the International Journal of Hospitality Management found that wine drinkers in a blind taste test rated the same wine 10 - 13 points higher for appearance, taste, aroma, and overall quality, when they were led to believe by visual cues that the wine was closed with a natural cork as opposed to a screw cap or a synthetic cork.

Commerce7, a winery direct-to-consumer sales platform, added a point of sale (POS) system to its suite of products. The POS can be used by winery staff to process tasting room orders, streamline workflow and leverage existing data to efficiently help customers. According to Commerce7, the system can accept payment via EMV chip and pin cards or mobile wallets.

Continental introduced a new beverage transfer hose specifically designed for the wine and brewing industries called Vintner Reserve. According to the manufacturer, the hose is designed to provide the user with a lighter and more flexible option for transfers while still maintaining compliance with federal food production standards.

GW Kent is now offering Colorstorm water hoses. The hoses are kink-resistant and hot water resistant to 160° F. Produced with EPDM and plated brass connections, the hoses come in 50-foot sections and in bright yellow to reduce the risk of tripping.

Labeltronix introduced wine label wraps that it reports are a cheaper and easier option for labeling wine in cans. The vendor claims the new label wraps provide for a fast turnaround and enable a winery to order exactly the number of labels needed. Other options include a variety of pressure sensitive materials and foil and spot varnish on metalized film.
