The Model 49 decaser by A-B-C Packaging Machine Corporation is designed to work with bottles packaged neck down in re-shipper cases. The Model 49 accepts cases from the conveyor either back-to-back or spaced, unloads them and uprights the empty cases for transfer to case packing. The machine runs RSC, HSC and RSC tablock cases at speeds of up to 50 cases per minute.

BSG Wine Division added a new fining agent called Fitoproteina-P that the Italian manufacturer Vason developed from peas. The product is intended as an alternative to clarifiers based on animal gelatines that can trigger allergies. The primary effect of the product is to soften astringent and rough tannins during the final clarification of a wine.

The machine cleans and sanitizes glassware with a high-temperature rinse that eliminates the need for chemical sanitizers. A “soft-start” feature helps prevent and reduce glass damage and an “auto-clean” setting reduces the need for any manual pre-washing.

Tonnellerie Radoux reports its new “upside down fermentor” designed to create a “full and gentle extraction of color and tannins” produced promising results in winemaking trials in France. The oak fermentor combines the advantages of the cone and inverted cone shaped casks into one fermentation tank.
