Swash unveiled the BarrelScope barrel inspection device to replace a simple flashlight for inspecting the inside of a barrel. The compact, miniature lighted periscope enables the user to see up to 85% of the interior surface of a barrel in detail.

Biome Makers new WineSeq is a soil-testing system that employs DNA-sequencing to identify and analyze the microbiome of the soil of a vineyard to help growers and winemakers make decisions on how to best manage it. WineSeq uses a database of more than 2.4 million DNA sequences to detect and predict problems in vineyards.

Clayver is now selling its ceramic fermentation and storage tanks in the North American market. The Italian supplier reports it developed its material after years of research, and while similar to terracotta the substance is waterproof without additional treatment, offers better porosity and is free of iron or any heavy metals.

Primera Technology added the LX1000 printer to its lineup. The LX1000 replaces the company’s LX900 printer and the supplier reports the two printers are similar. but the LX1000 offers new features including pigment ink, lower cost per label and print speeds of up to 4” per second.

Flextank reports its new DH500 is designed for the long term storage and maturation of wine and other beverages. The 500-gallon tank includes a racking elbow with 1.5” valve, 4” drain valve as well as a sampling valve. When paired with the company’s P48 reinforced pallet, Flextank says the 93” tall and 42” diameter tank is easy to move.

AEB released two variations of its Ellagitan Barrique Liquid Tannin, which are derived from heavy and medium toasted American oak. Ellagitan Barrique FR (fruit reserve) is described as offering high notes of caramel and almond aromas and helps lift the fruit without affecting astringency or color.
