Washington state promotes wine in India
Winemakers from Washington state launched a marketing campaign in India during September. Winemakers hosted a series of trade tastings and winemaker dinners in Mumbai and Delhi featuring more than 75 wines. The free, invitation-only events targeted India’s leading food and beverage professionals, hoteliers, restaurateurs and importers. Visit: washingtonwine.org.
New winery alights on Vancouver Island
Proprietors Bill and Michal Montgomery recently opened the cellar doors of 40 Knots, Comox, B.C. Natasha Ponich is the winemaker, Matt Rademakers is vineyard manager and Christine Leroux is consulting winemaker. Vancouver Island’s newest winery launched with 2009 and 2010 releases of Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and a rosé. Visit: 40knotswinery.com.
Idaho Wine Passport Program
The Idaho Wine Commission, Boise, Idaho, has partnered with The Idaho Statesman for the Idaho Wine Passport Program. Twenty participating wineries will offer special deals for passport holders.
