Farthing leaves Oregon board

Ted Farthing, executive director of the Oregon Wine Board (OMB) since 2004, resigned in March to pursue a career in marketing consulting. OMB chair Sam Tannahill, A to Z Wineworks, will serve as acting executive director until a search committee finds a permanent replacement within three to six months.

Name Swiftwater’s new restaurant
Swiftwater Cellars seeks a name for the onsite restaurant at its “destination winery” in Cle Elum, scheduled to open this fall. Winner will receive a $500 donation to his choice of charity and a $500 Swiftwater gift certificate. Swiftwater currently produces just 500 cases annually from locations in Walla Walla and Kennewick; Tony Rynders is winemaker. See details at swiftwatercellars.com.

Sheridan is Hester Creek GM

Mark Sheridan was appointed general manager at 23,500-case Hester Creek Estate Winery, Oliver, B.C. The Australia native previously was director of vineyard operations for Vincor Canada.
