Precept buys Corus
Precept Wine Brands, Seattle, Wash., one of the state’s biggest wine producers, purchased Seattle-based Corus Estates & Vineyards from the Baty family. Dan Baty is also a co-owner of Precept. Corus has winemaking facilities in Alder Ridge, Wash., and Nampa, Idaho, and brands including Sawtooth Winery, Alder Ridge, 6 Prong, Zefina, Blue Pirate and Battle Creek. Precept will continue to source grapes from the Baty family’s Winemakers LLC, which retains Corus facilities in Oregon.
Walla Walla chooses ReCORK
The Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance board will work with ReCORK, the North American-based wine cork recycling program sponsored by Amorim of Portugal and SOLE of Canada. ReCORK will collect and recycle used and surplus natural wine cork closures from the alliance’s 100-plus members in Washington state. For details, visit recork.org.
Cowhorn to upcycle bottles
Cowhorn Vineyard & Garden, Applegate Valley, Ore., shipped 1,000 used wine bottles to The Green Glass Co., where they will be upcycled into heirloom goblets, pitchers, tumblers, vases and votives.
