Zepponi named Mission Hill president
Mission Hill Family Estate Winery, Okanagan Valley, British Columbia, appointed Daniel Zepponi as president. He oversees all operations of the family-owned winery. Previously, Zepponi was senior vice president at Fosterís Wine Estates in California.
Washington Commission chooses officers
The Washington Wine Commission named new commission members and officers. Rick Small, owner of Woodward Canyon, was elected chairman; John Bookwalter, J. Bookwalter Winery, vice chairman; Peter Dow, Cavatappi Winery was re-elected treasurer. Dick Boushey, Boushey Vineyards and Kent Waliser, Sagemoor Farms, were appointed to three-year terms on the commission.
Oregon auction raised $2.8 million
Events in the week-long Classic Wines Auction last March raised almost $2.8 million to benefit four Portland-based charities. Metropolitan Family Service, New Avenues for Youth, Friends of the Children and Trillium Family Services were the beneficiaries of the annual auction. Canaís Feast Winery in Carlton, Ore., promoted Patrick Taylor from assistant winemaker to winemaker, upon the retirement of founding partner/winemaker Gino Cuneo. Cuneo will continue to act as a winemaking and viticulture consultant to the 8,000-case winery.
