Herzog purchases acreage in Lake County
Oxnard, Calif.—Herzog Wine Cellars, a family-owned southern California company, announced it has purchased a combined 83-acres in Kelseyville, Calif., located in Lake County. The two parcels include 18-acres of Sauvignon Blanc and 65-acres that will be planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. The company describes its new acreage as partially volcanic, Bally-Phipps soil complex which is land similar that has produced other highly rated Lake County wines. "The 2014 Herzog Lake County Cabernet Sauvignon surpassed all expectations,” national sales director Doug Simon of Herzog’s parent company, Royal Wine Corporation said in a news release. “This vineyard purchase will allow us to expand our production and continue to meet our customer’s needs for exceptional wine."
