Oregon Wine Board hires executive director
The Oregon Wine Board and Oregon Winegrowers Association selected Tom Danowski as executive director. Danowski has managed a strategic marketing consulting business in the Seattle area for the past two years. As the executive director of both the OWB and OWA, Danowski will lead marketing, education and research programs for both groups. OWB and OWA represent the state’s wineries and vineyard owners.
Co-owner of Stoller Vineyards dies
Cathy Stoller, co-owner of Stoller Vineyards in Dayton, Ore., died after an accidental fall Nov. 30. She was 60. Stoller and her husband Bill Stoller entered the wine industry after building Express Personnel Professionals into an international, billion-dollar company. The couple purchased their first vines in 1993 and released their first vintage in 2003, three years before opening the winery.
Oregon wine app released
The Oregon Wine Board launched the Oregon Wine Map, the first statewide mobile directory of wineries and restaurants. The mobile application is free for users of all mobile smart phones. The directory includes more than 200 Oregon wineries, maps to tasting rooms, hours of operation, contact information and directions. Details: oregonwine.org.
Bureau joins Taste Washington event
The Seattle Convention and Visitors Bureau will team up with the Washington State Wine Commission to produce the annual Taste Washington food and wine show in Seattle. The commission has licensed the show to the bureau and will become a presenting sponsor. The bureau will focus on producing the show and arranging sponsors, while the wine commission will organize winery participation and wine events. Details: tastewashington.org.
Promotions at Adelsheim Vineyard
Kim Bellingar will transition from office manager into a newly created position as manager of sales operations. Marketing and communications manager Catherine Douglas will become manager of export sales. Tasting room manager Nathalie Quick will assume the additional role of regional sales manager for Oregon and Nevada. Adelsheim Vineyard owns 221 acres of vineyards in the Willamette Valley and produces 50,000 cases of wine per year. Details: adelsheim.com.
New wine firm focused on Oregon
Pacific Rim and Sweet Bliss will now be managed under the firm VinMotion, a new company that also plans to launch the Oregon wine brand Rainstorm in 2012. VinMotion will be led by the management team from Pacific Rim Winemakers and is owned by the Mariani Family, owners of Banfi Vintners. Details: sweetblisswines.com.

McMinnville, Ore.-based Results Partners LLC, the state’s largest vineyard development and management company, hired Alex Cabrera as operations manager and Chris Hubert to manage the Lee Ellen Vineyard in Ashland, Ore. Prior to joining Results Partners Cabrera served as vineyard manager for Abacela in Roseburg, Ore., and Hubert had most recently been the vineyard manager of 300 acres of vineyards for Quail Run Vineyards in Talent, Ore.
