Wall Street Journal columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher give some much-deserved love to 'real' Beaujolais as a tonic for hard times. In the Financial Times, columnist Jancis Robinson offers a lengthy appraisal of wines from the 2006 vintage Bordeaux and finds few worthy of praise. Also, tasting not on Count Macari Vineyard Collina 48 Merlot.
San Francisco Chronicle: The Chronicle tasting panel reviews domestic Riesling wines. In the 'dry' category, highest ratings go to producers from Oregon (Holloran), Michigan (Jana), and California (Navarro). In the 'off dry' category, highest ratings go to Montinore in Oregon and Pacific Rim in Washington. And in the 'sweet' category, the producers getting the highest marks are Chateau Ste. Michelle and Eroica in Washington, and Navarro once again.

San Jose Mercury News: Wine columnist Laurie Daniel on Stagecoach Vineyards and some of the wines made from its fruit. Nice remarks on offerings from Krupp Brothers, Verasion, Levendi, and Palmeri.

By contrast, very high praise for recent vintages of Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon wines (both Alexander Valley and Napa Valley) for their balance and elegance.
