Excellent week for Georges Duboeuf, with two recommendations of the Fleurie 2006 and praise also for the Macon-Villages. Eric Asimov, writing in the New York Times, finds much to like in the Montsant region of Catalonia. And Elin McCoy of Bloomberg News joins the chorus of those who are taking California winemakers to task for the trend toward ponderous, overly alcoholic wines - a story that is not going to go away soon. Wall Street Journal: Wine columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brecher on a wine pairing dinner at Victoria & Albert's restaurant. Nice mentions for a few wines, including Twisted Oak Roussanne/Marsanne 2005, and Navarro Correas Malbec 2005.

Business Week: Wine critic Robert Parker on 2004 vintage Bordeaux wines from female vintners. Top rated are Mouton Rothschild and Chateau Margaux.

Bloomberg News Service: Wine columnist Elin McCoy on the alarming trend toward high alcohol wines in California. Nice comments for retailer Darrell Corti, and Clark Smith of Vinovation.
